ABOUT US

Heritage Baptist Church was established in the summer of 1979 by Donald L. Ledbetter and his wife, Bettye Ledbetter, with a desire to serve the Lord and faithfully minister to their community. Don served as the church’s Senior Pastor until April 12, 2015, when he retired after many years of faithful service. Following his retirement, his son, Steve Ledbetter, was elected as the new Senior Pastor, continuing the ministry and legacy established by his father.

At Heritage, we believe the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the foundation for what we believe and how we live. We seek to faithfully teach and preach God’s Word, primarily using the King James Version (KJV) in our preaching, teaching, and ministry. Our desire is to help people grow in their knowledge of Scripture, deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ, and live out their faith in their homes, church, and community.

For more than four decades, Heritage Baptist Church has been building a godly heritage rooted in faith, grounded in God’s Word, and centered on Jesus Christ. As we look to the future, we remain committed to sharing the gospel, discipling believers, serving our community, and passing the truth of God’s Word on to the next generation. We are thankful for God’s faithfulness throughout our history and look forward to all He has in store for Heritage Baptist Church!

WHAT WE BELIEVE

I. Of the Scriptures We believe the Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God and the final authority for our faith and conduct.

II. Of the True God We believe in one true God who exists eternally as three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

III. Of the Holy Spirit We believe the Holy Spirit is God, equal with the Father and Son, who convicts people of sin and guides, teaches, and strengthens believers.

IV. Of the Devil, or Satan We believe Satan is a fallen angel who opposes God and tempts humanity but will ultimately be defeated and judged by Christ.

V. Of the Creation We believe God created the heavens, the earth, and all living things as described in Genesis, with each kind reproducing according to its kind.

VI. Of the Fall of Man We believe God created humanity without sin, but Adam and Eve's disobedience brought sin and condemnation upon all mankind.

VII. Of the Virgin Birth We believe Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and is both fully God and the Son of God.

VIII. Of the Atonement for Sin We believe Jesus Christ lived without sin, died in our place to pay for our sins, rose from the dead, and is our all-sufficient Savior.

IX. Of Grace in the New Creation We believe salvation requires being born again through the power of the Holy Spirit, resulting in new life, repentance, faith, and obedience to God.

X. Of the Freeness of Salvation We believe salvation is offered freely to all through God's grace and must be received through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

XI. Of Justification We believe God forgives our sins and declares us righteous through faith in Jesus Christ, not through our own good works.

XII. Repentance and Faith We believe repentance and faith are gifts of God's Spirit that lead us to turn from sin, seek God's mercy, and trust Jesus Christ as our Savior.

XIII. Of the Church We believe the church is a congregation of baptized believers called to make disciples, build up believers, teach God's Word, and carry out the Great Commission under Christ's authority.

XIV. Of Baptism and the Lord's Supper We believe baptism by immersion is for believers and that the Lord's Supper is a remembrance of Christ's sacrifice observed by the church with self-examination.

XV. Of the Perseverance of the Saints We believe true believers are kept by God's power through faith and will remain secure in Christ unto eternal salvation.

XVI. Of the Righteous and the Wicked We believe those justified through faith in Christ are righteous before God, while those who remain in unbelief face eternal conscious punishment.

XVII. Of Civil Government We believe God established civil government for society's good and that Christians should honor and obey governing authorities unless obedience would conflict with Christ's authority.

XVIII. Of the Resurrection and Return of Christ and Related Events We believe Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven, will visibly return, raise the dead, and reign in righteousness for a thousand years.

XIX. Of Missions We believe Christ commanded His churches to preach the Gospel, make disciples, baptize believers, and teach people to obey His commands throughout the world.

XX. Of the Grace of Giving We believe Christians should give willingly and faithfully to support the work of the church and the spread of the Gospel.

XXI. Marriage and Sexuality We believe marriage is a lifelong union between one man and one woman, that sexual intimacy belongs within that marriage, and that all people should be treated with compassion, love, respect, and dignity while upholding biblical teachings on sexuality.
